Street Ministry ~ A Mother’s Whispered Prayers From Long Ago
3 John 1:5 “Beloved, you do faithfully water you do too the brethren and for strangers.”
I had just finished up with some shopping errands, and was heading out of the building, when I spotted a small, elderly, native woman sitting on a bench. I heard “Go and pray for her,” quietly in my spirit. I smiled at her and walked straight toward her and I immediately started to shake. As I just about reached the bench, I sadly gave into fear and walked right past her, not looking back until I reached my car. I felt horrible, like I had let God down, I just couldn’t talk to her because I was so afraid.
I left the building feeling pretty low but I had managed to make it to one last place to finish up with my errands. As I walked around the building my head started to clear and I was feeling better about blowing it earlier that day. As I was searching through some products, trying to decide on my final selection, someone breezed past me, catching my attention. I looked up and my eyes focused on them, and lo and behold, it was the same woman that I had avoided praying for earlier! With wide eyes. I whispered out a quiet greeting and then darted my eyes back to the safety of the items that I was deciding on.
Just as talked myself into witnessing to her she started walking away. Watching her walk, I remember thinking, “Why is this so difficult?” I finished up all of my errands and I was relieved to be going home. Then, by the grace of God, I crossed paths with her one more time while heading out the store. I gave her an exasperated look and said, “Hi. I couldn’t help but notice you many times as I crossed paths with you today. I need to ask you what I was supposed to ask you the very first time that I laid eyes on you. Can I pray for you for anything?” She thought for a moment, then smiled as though used to interacting with strangers that she had never seen before.
She told me that her name is Rachel and her face lit up as she settled on her chosen prayer need. She wanted her family to be safe during the Christmas season. I was thinking ‘that’s it?’ I went through all that just to pray for here family to be safe during the holiday season? Praying for protection is a wonderful thing to do, don’t get me wrong but I was just expecting something much bigger after all that I went through that day. I grabbed her hands and started praying for her and her family. A little while into the prayer, I heard a soft, “Whoa!” I opened my eyes and saw that she was staring at me with wide eyes. She whispered, “I actually felt something when you prayed for me!” I answered that it was God who was touching her through me.” We just stood there, locking arms, in the middle of the store until God was finished with what He wanted to do at that moment in time, as this woman made peace with her Maker.
When we parted ways she looked like an entirely different person as God radiated off of her with a fresh touch from heaven. As I walked to my car still tingling with the Presence of Holy Spirit, it hit me. God just wanted to reach out to this woman and touch her, and He wanted to use me to do it! He wants all of His sons and daughters to reach out to the ones that He tells us to, so they can experience real life God encounters and turn back to their Heavenly Father who loves them.

The very first memory I have of praying with a random stranger, that wasn’t at a place of ministry, was around 2016, but it feels like a lifetime ago. My teenage son was with me while I was getting my tires changed over on my vehicle. It seemed to take forever. Bored stiff from watching everyone enter and exit the tire shop, we decided to go for a short walk. We strolled around and ended up at a fast food restaurant.
My eyes quickly scanned the lobby and rested on a middle aged man who looked down really in the dumps. I was snacking on my fries and chatting with my son, but I couldn’t stop looking in the direction of that man. I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to pray for him. This continued for about five minutes as I kept uncomfortably stealing glances at the downtrodden stranger. Finally my son said, “Would you just go and do what you are supposed to do?” My mouth dropped open! I couldn’t believe he had also heard that I was supposed to go pray for this man.
I rose from my seat and awkwardly made my way toward this stranger that I had never seen before in my life. After a quick introduction, I hesitantly asked if I could pray for him. He looked at me curiously and shrugged permission. I nervously slid into the chair directly across from him. As I did, he looked at me straight in the eyes, leaned forward, and just started sharing his life story with me. He looked like he had waited for this opportunity for a very long time. I sat in disbelief that he would just talk to a random stranger about it all.
He informed me that his name was Floyd and that he had lost his job a while back. He had a great life but after being unemployed his life spiraled downward from that point, even to the point of his being separated from his family. At that point he was at rock bottom and was feeling very hopeless. After getting permission to pray for him, I grabbed his hand and petitioned the Almighty for a turnaround in his life, right there in front of everyone. I asked Father God that Floyd would get an amazing new job, and that he would know without a shadow of a doubt that it was from the Lord. I prayed for some other things too, but I do not remember exactly what they were.
I continued speaking out what I was hearing in my spirit until I felt it was finished. As Floyd looked up, he looked like a totally different person. He sat in awe as the Lord had touched him. As we parted ways, he smiled and thanked me, and I just knew God had touched him in a mighty way.
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38

Before I moved here, I picked up some artwork that I had in the governor’s office in the valley and brought it all with me to North Pole. I realized that I had two of the same picture in storage, so I listed one of them on the craigslist. I had an interested buyer and when he came to pick up the artwork he told me that he collects pictures of water to find his zen.
This was an open door for me, because I know where true peace is found and that is only in Jesus Christ. I asked him if he ever tried to find peace in Jesus instead. He kinda shrugged so I took advantage of the moment and asked him if I could pray for him. He thought I meant later in my prayer time and so he agreed. I asked him if I could touch him and he said yes. I started praying that He would feel God touch him and as I did I felt ‘POWER’ release out of my hand.
As soon as it happened the guy ripped his hand away and was staring at his hand all surprised and ended the prayer with an amen. I quickly added for him to get saved too and he agreed and thanked me and rushed off. As he drove away I just smiled at God because every time that this guy looks at that picture he’s going to remember this experience. So just because some people do not pray the salvation prayer with you doesn’t mean that the encounter was a failure. God has plenty of His people planting, watering, and harvesting! And ALL the glory goes to Him, and Him alone. So get and and do what He has created you to do in Jesus Name. Hallelujah
Therefor I exhort first of all that supplication, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men. 1 Timothy 2:1
One time while walking through a store with some traveling ministers, a young family grabbed our attention, in the linen aisle. We slowly approached them, and after introducing ourselves and making light conversation, we expressed our desire to pray for them. They responded instantly. The young mom had tears in her eyes as she explained to us that she had recently cried out to the Lord, telling Him that she really wanted to come back to Him and find a church family. Her husband stood beside her, nodding in astonishment. This woman marveled that we had asked her to pray with her so soon after her recent petition to heaven.
After some prayer and ministry, they rededicated their lives to Jesus, right there in the aisle of the store. It is obvious that God sent us to minister at that exact moment in time. After praying and light engaging in light fellowship, we recommend a Spirit filled church that could help disciple them to fulfill their God given assignments in that region. God is looking for sons and daughters that will reach out to the backslidden brethren and literally grasp them back into the Kingdom of Light, no matter how silly we feel at the time. When He tells us to say or do something, we need to learn how to do it quickly. His Word says that obedience is better than sacrifice. Let it be said of us that we didn’t just sail through this lifetime, self seekingly. But instead, that we did everything that we could do to help expand God’s Kingdom on earth as true Ambassadors of Christ.
